Re: Top 10 Combat Rifles

great video

they didnt mention anything about the stopping power of an AK round over a M16 round. Personally I'd much rather you shot me with an M16 round :)

"If I were visiting an alien planet and could only bring one rifle, that rifle would be an Ak-47"

Ahahaaha. I think someone watched too many episodes of Stargate.

I did enjoy the video though. :)

It is hard to beat the AK. Especially the Russian made Saiga - only $247.25 at www.rrarms.com.

Sorry SLV but that is the biggest piece of scrap metal I have ever had in my hands.

No mag interghangeability, VERY poor workmanship, no pistol grip (Kali approved). and on and on.

I don't care that it has the old man's approval, he is so old that you think it really matters to him? He prolly needs the endorsement money anyway.

The thing is crap.

Save your buckos and buy a good AK, preferably a Yugo. The best of the AK's available right now.

If you're looking for 1911 style 45, take a look at the Kimbers. If you're more into the polymer or tactical handguns, take a look at the H&K's. If you find those a bit out of your price range, Springfield's new XD series has been getting rave reviews for what its worth...

I have a whole flock of them. 5 minutes in my shop will make a 30 round AK mag fit AND work perfectly without modifying the gun. I don't care that there is no pistol grip, and I like the scratched up paint - it still works just like an AK... and from what I've heard, the accuracy is better because it is manufactured on modern equipment.

Ouch, Yes the Kimber is out of my price range. I thought they would be priced less the the H&K. I was looking at the Sigs too.
Thanks all for the info.

Smith and Wesson along with Ruger and Taurus make very nice choices also.

Re: Top 10 Combat Rifles

Ak's run nice my favorite is the DS Arms though. The only problem is the DS arms costs stupid money.
As far as .45's go, I've had Kimbers, glocks, Sigs, and HKs. The HK works best for me so I own all USPs for my needs(6).
I would suggest going to a range that rents handguns and shoot several different ones and find what works best for YOU and not somebody else. There are alot of good QUALITY brands out there at most price levels.

you know what DS stands for? Dave Salvaggio.

He has good FN FALs, the best really. If you want to pay Dave for a rifle get an FAL.

He must be turned off by the factory stock and trigger I'm guessing. The Saiga's are well built, they function correctly and are among the more accurate AK's generally speaking. Probably the best way to get a Russian reciever even if they Saiga's we get imported lack the dimples. Saiga's are a project gun that can be raised to a higher state of being but work well as shipped. Can't beat the price either. I suppose if you're not handy you might be happier with something set up the way you want it from the factory.

Here's some Saiga candy.

... and it's on fire because...?

It's a good thing he had the endurance hold on through about 200 rounds. Otherwise that pile of trash might have gotten him.

Sorry should have been more specific. I meant my personal choice was the DS-Arms fal. As far as I know ds doesn't make an ak product.
